The Snohomish Chapter of CCL meets as a group on a monthly basis and many members are additionally involved in projects that range from community information campaigns, writing letters to the editor, middle school education programs, research and publication of energy grid solutions, and legislative lobbying at the state and national level. The range of potential contributions is endless.
If you have an interest in joining, you can do so by signing up with the CCL National or by contacting co-leaders, Nathaniel (Skip) Short or Mark Rohde by email. We are looking forward to building a better planet with you.
Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) is a non-profit organization focused on building political will for climate solutions. Established in 2007, CCL advocates for effective and sustainable climate policies, primarily through grassroots advocacy. CCL has over 420 chapters in the United States and more than 150 international chapters across six continents.
CCL Focuses on Four Research-Based Solutions:
The truth is that there will always be limited resources, so it just makes sense to concentrate our efforts where our personal energy and financial resources can be most effective.
Carbon Fee & Dividend – put a price on carbon-based pollution paid by the fossil fuel companies and equally distribute the revenues to households as a dividend, incentivizing a shift toward clean energy.
Healthy Forests – trees aren’t just beautiful, they’re responsible for pulling the equivalent of 12% of America’s carbon pollution out of the air each year. Go trees!
Fostering Energy Efficiency & Building Electrification – heat pumps and induction ranges are great, but we ought to start with weatherization.
Clean Energy Permit Reform & Grid Buildout – moving toward clean energy will require upgrades to an energy infrastructure that was largely built in the 1960s and 70s.
What We Value:
Personal Power – we are empowered by our collective choice
Being Nonpartisan - open to anyone serious about solving climate change
Integrity – using science and data to get it right
Diversity – personal and political power for EVERYONE
Optimism – a choice to believe in the possible
Focus – our sights clearly on Climate Change
