The EUMC Advocates for Justice - Environment at the Edmonds United Methodist Church currently emphasizes the climate crisis, including what we can do as a church and what we can do as individuals to reduce our impact on the planet, its people, animals, and plants. As a celebration of Earth Day, each year we sponsor Earth Sunday activities, worship services, and emphasis on one or more of the many ways we can reduce our carbon footprints.
EUMC Advocates for Justice - Environment seeks to inform and support both the church and individual members as they advocate for environmental action as a moral value - locally, statewide, and nationally. Current examples include projects to make our church more sustainable and addressing the issues of climate change in our community. Other current projects include:
Providing ways members can reduce their carbon
Continuing to reduce and/or eliminate fossil fuel investments by EUMC
Contacting state legislators regarding current and future climate-related legislation
Researching solar opportunities
