The Everett Community Green Schools Work Group aims to help improve community health and slow climate change by working with Everett Public Schools and the community to develop and implement policies, programs and practices focused on carbon neutrality, environmental equity, and student and community health outcomes.
To achieve this mission, we are guided by these six Core Principles:
Community-led effort: Represent the best long-term health and environmental outcomes for students and their families, staff members, and the communities of the Everett Public Schools.
Partnership: Respect the roles, responsibilities and knowledge of district and school leadership.
Positive Presupposition: Assume good intentions, within the group and in those with whom we interact.
Data-Driven Approach: Base our decussions and products on accurate, timely data.
Transparency: Operate with clear articulated goals and record keeping.
Environmental Justice: Promote environmentally-beneficial change, especially within those parts of the community experiencing cycles of poverty, health, and social disparities.
